Meet our Coaches
MIKE SCHMIDT (HEAD COACH):
Coach Mike is a Michigan native who has lived in Maine for several decades now. He is a lifelong swimmer who started swimming competitively as a youth at a local YMCA, swam through high school, swam through college and swam U.S. Masters. His accomplishments in the sport are now so old they have been forgotten. Mike has coached competitive swimmers (intermittently) for over 30 years. He has enjoyed coaching swimmers from kindergarten to college at YMCAs, clubs, high schools, and colleges. He holds a B.A. and an M.A. in American History and a J.D. from Indiana School of Law, which he employed practicing law for nearly 20 years. He resides in Vassalboro with his wife, 1 remaining child, the other joined the Marines, 2 dogs, 2 cats and zero chickens.
MEGAN CROWDER (ASSISTANT COACH):
Megan Crowder is also a Michigan native who moved to Maine in 2015 to accept a position at Nancy Marshall Communications in Augusta. In 2020 she got a new job at the Good Shepard Food Bank in Auburn. She has been swimming since the age of 10 and swam for club, high school and college. At the high school level, she qualified for state and was the butterfly leg of the medley relay team that broke the school record. In college, Megan swam for the Northern Michigan University Wildcats, lettered all four years and led the team as Captain during her junior and senior years. In Maine, Megan find her self doing all things outdoors, running, swimming, hiking, hunting, and fishing; no matter the season or the weather. She is also a Senior Guard and Swim Instructor at the KVYMCA. In her free time, she enjoys working out and spending time with her Maine Coon cat Oberon.
