Saturday was our last home meet and senior recognition day against Long Reach Swim Club the perennial Y State Meet Champions. Since the level of competion was very high, we approached this meet with the team objective of everyone contributing and racing hard to the last event. The kids rose to the occassion and it was a very successful day for the team. We were able to use a combination of factors to win a hard fought meet, so congatulations to all involved in the effort.

This was our first meet of 2019, so the first 2019 team records were set by Eli Burnham and Ian Fournier. Eli set is records in the 25 fly with a 15.03, whch also breaks the YMCA State Record, and 50 free with a 31.37. Ian broke records in the 50 fly with a 27.55 and 100 free with a 55.71.

Since records don't get bonus points, it's not how the meet was won. That was accomplished in the battles in every event for the points for 3rd, 4th and 5th place, and in some tight relay races. The action around these spots produced many heros, so I'm going to list some of them off, and if you see them this week at practice give them a pat on the back, a nod, high five or something to say well done: Ethan Brooks stepping into the A medley spot and delivering a 4 second drop and completing his first legal 50 breaststroke. Zac Claude, Ried Dejongh and Nate Best going wild in the 200 free. Noah Katz with three great swims and big time drops. Emma McDowell, dropping time and moving up in the pecking order. Evie Claude completing her first legal 50 fly. Gabby Lazure completing her first legal 25 breaststroke. Kate Mason, Carter Miville, Aaron Theriault, and Owen Munzing for dropping massive amounts of time in the 100 free. Addie Pollis for making Winter Champ cuts in the 50 free and 50 back, and Suri Ramkissoon for doing the same in the 50 free.

This could be expanded until we included everyone, since every swim and every race mattered. So although I named a few of the swims I made notes on, there were many, so congratulations to all who swam. It was a great moment for all of you!
