On February 3rd twenty three KVY swimmers represented the Central All Star team at the 18th annual Tom Manduca Memorial Y All Star Meet. We had some stellar performances at the meet which included best times, team records, Winter Champ cuts, meet records and pool records.
Three of our 15-18 girls got the record breaking started by participating in a 200 medley relay that broke the meet and Bates College Pool record. Cecilia Guadalupi, Gabby Low and Delaney Willey swam legs on a relay that clocked in at 1:49.11 to set the respective marks.
Emma Thomas added another double record in the 13-14 girls 200 free with a time of 1:58.67. This time broke the KVY team record and also set a meet record. Nathan Berry also set a double record in the 50 yard freestyle. His time of 21.08 broke both the meet record and the Bates College pool record.
Gabby Low equaled Nathan's feat, not once, but twice. Gabby broke the meet and pool records in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 55.53, and later followed this up by breaking the pool and meet records in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.08.
Ian Fournier broke the 11-12 boys 50 yard breaststroke meet record with a tme of 31.48. Ian would follow this up by leading off the Central 200 free relay with a new team record in the 50 yard freestyle of 24.59. The relay went on to break the meet record in that event. Likewise, Emily Kennard, Anabelle Orth and Addison Burnham participated in a meet record setting 200 free relay on the girls side of the 11-12 age group.
We added a new Winter Champs qualifier at the meet, as Liz Brown swam a 100 breaststroke time trial after the meet and bettered the cut time by almost 2 seconds. Jameson Russell added a cut time in the 100 butterfly by dropping nearly 3 seconds off of his previous best time.
The All Star meet is both an honor and an opportunity. We had a number of our swimmers take advantage of the opportunity and post time drops in their races. All involved did a great job of representing our team.
