Suits for states / Additional USA meet
For those interested in getting a "fast" suit for their child for Y States and JO's, I want to offer a suggestion. Check out the suits at http://www.yingfa.us. These suits are not in violation of the suit ban, and they are reasonably priced ($32 for the boys and $49 for the girls). Yingfa was the factory where many of the speedo suits were made up until a few years ago, so I think their suits represent technology similar to what you'd find in a original fast skins suits at about a 1/3 the cost. My only other suggestion is to make sure the suit is as tight as can be tolerated.
My observation a year later is that these suits, for those who don't want to invest big $$, produce very good results. I'll stick with last years advice on making them as tight as possible.
For those registered (or planning to register) for USA swimming, we will be doing an additional meet this year between Y State Meet and Winter Champs. The meet is Winter Champs Trials at Bath Y which is held the weekend after Y States (March 9-10). The meet provides two avenues of qualifying for Winter Champs. The first is to make the qualifying standard, and the second is to finish in the top two finishers in an event.. A swimmer may only enter an event if they do not have a qualifying time, so not all swimmers are eligible to swim in the meet, and even if eligible, they can't swim an event where they have qualified for Winter Champs. It will give us an additonal opportunity to get a few new swimmers qualified, and it will also give us an opportunity to qualify in a few more events for some of our other swimmers. If you have any questions about the meet, or would like me to enter your child please let me know at [email protected].
