IMPORTANT Scheduling Info!
Good morning,
4 Important Scheduling Items:
1) Practice this Friday (3/3) . . . If your swimmer is not in Orono on Friday, Coach will leave a workout on the whiteboard for them to do on their own
2) Wristbands/Tickets for States . . . This just in from the YMCA State Swimming Championships Race/Meet Director:
- Friday night - only Friday night session wrist bands will be sold at this time. Sale of wrist bands begin about 3 pm or as soon as wrist band table is ready to go.
- Saturday morning: wrist bands go on sale at 6:45 am for all session Saturday and Sunday. Please note that tickets should be purchased just for your family. A limit of 5 is place on each sale. We will have a TV set up in the field house to view the meet. If people do not get a wrist band, they can watch the meet on the TV and when their child is about to swim, they can come to the pool lobby and the meet Marshall will allow them on the deck to view the swim then depart. Finally, we will be having the meet on a live feed. Instruction how to get to the feed will be sent soon.
3) Practice next week (3/6-3/10) . . . If your swimmer is going to Junior Olympics, we will have practice EVERY DAY next week. The maintenance closure planned for March 7th and 8th has been rescheduled. The Stingray swim season officially ends after States (for swimmers who are not USA swimmers heading to JOs, or KVY Stingrays who are heading to Regionals or Nationals). BUT . . . “Just keep swimming! Just keep swimming!” . . . and we will see you at the KVY Stingrays Awards Banquet (3/26), and, hopefully, at Spring and/or Summer Swim!
4) Spring & Summer Swim Info . . . Spring Swim will be May 1st – June 9th 3:30-4:30 pm Senior Group and 4:30-5:30 pm Junior and Novice Groups, and Summer Swim will be June 19th – July 28th 3-4 pm Senior Group and 4-5 pm Junior and Novice Groups. Tell your friends!—Tell your enemies!—Tell anyone who will listen!
Some of you already know, some of you don’t . . . Spring and Summer swim is a wonderful opportunity to work on the finer points that make good swimmers better, or perhaps even great, swimmers. Coaches will be taking underwater and above-water videos to review growth areas with individual swimmers and/or groups. They will focus on starts and turns (huge time cutters), specific skills and techniques, drills to eliminate poor form and strengthen proper technique, etc., much of which is simply not possible during the busy-ness of the regular season.
Please be patient . . . We sent the Summer/Spring info for the benefit of all of our advance planners, so you can get it on your calendars J We will let you know as soon as we have the registration, pricing, etc. details.
Stay tuned . . . We will likely be in touch again this week.
See you soon,
Gary & Kristy
