Tomorrow's Meet
Hello again Stingrays,
Update . . .
Here is a note from Ranae:
"Good news! As long as we get the approval from the state, the swim meet is on for Saturday. We will have final confirmation no later than 3:00 pm today. We are awaiting our final water test verification from the state.
Everything looks great from our end! Fingers crossed!"
Here are some additional details you should know:
The plan is to host Boothbay at the KV YMCA with a number of caveats and changes (Warmups at 11 & Start time around Noon).
1. As mentioned above, the Y still needs the State's approval to reopen the pool (We will know by 3 pm today).
2. If granted approval, the meet may be canceled at any time if the pool chemistry goes awry (Testing will be ongoing during the meet).
3. Warmups will look different and the initial psych sheets (on the wall) will likely be edited, to decrease the swimmer load in the pool.
4. Here is a portion of a note from from Emily Caffry (KV YMCA Aquatic Director) with some additional regulations:
"All swimmers will be required to shower before entering the pool. There will be a staff member monitoring the shower area to ensure that the showers are good quality.
Coaches from both teams must have a meeting with their swimmers beforehand to remind them to not pee in the pool! This is incredibly hard to enforce but it is absolutely essential that no pee gets in the pool.
Spectators will be allowed in the bleacher areas only - not on the rest of the deck. There will be a rope and a staff member at each door to enforce this. Spectators will also be required to wipe their feet before entering and encouraged to enter through the lobby doors rather than down the aquatics hallway.
Any parents who are volunteering as timers, officials, or other on deck positions MUST bring a CLEAN pair of shoes to change into when they go on deck."
5. Finally, as you probably recall, tomorrow's meet is a makeup meet that was canceled due to snow, and snow is in the forecast for tomorrow :o(
We will wait until we hear whether or not the State approved the reopening before requesting your help. If approved, and Boothbay is willing to travel in the snow, we will need your support re setup/takedown, timing, announcing, selling Concessions, cooking/supplying Concessions, etc., etc.
As always, do let us know if you have questions, comments or concerns.
Thanks!
Gary & Kristy
