Important Information, updates and kudos
Hi Stingrays,
Happy Monday! Sending along some important information, updates and kudos . . .
MEETS
Great meets this weekend! Don’t forget to thank your coaches for giving up their weekends, for going in different directions and for their hard work and support! Results from the USA meet are attached and on our website. Results from the WCY Invitational will be posted as soon as we receive them. There were lots of really great swims that we can all celebrate, including some record-breaking swims!
- Congratulations to Addison Burnham for breaking the KVY Girls 9-10 100 Back record!
- Congratulations to Noah Katz for breaking the KVY Boys 11-12 Breast record (previously held by none other than Noah Katz)!
- Congratulations to Anne Guadalupe, Laura Molesworth, Delaney Willey and Gabby Low for breaking the KVY 15 & Over Girls 400 Free Relay record!
AIR QUALITY
We have heard your voices and your concerns re the poor air quality in the pool area . . . Wanted to briefly review the steps the Y has taken thus far, update you on what steps are planned and provide you with an opportunity to express your concerns and hear from Y leadership in person.
Completed:
- Pool water testing (both in-house and by GAUD) resulted in a clean bill of health.
- HVAC repairs and system checks in mid-December indicate that the system is functioning as designed.
- Doormats were installed in hopes of decreasing organic matter in the pool (and improving air quality).
Planned:
- Signs re pre-swim showers and preventing urination in the pool are ordered, which are also an effort to decrease organic matter in the pool (and improve air quality).
- As part of regular maintenance, the pool filter sand is now scheduled to be replaced. It will be replaced and upgraded with glass media, which we have learned may have an impact on air quality. Unfortunately, this maintenance requires a pool closure . . . Please mark your calendars: The pool will be closed on Tuesday, March 7th and Wednesday, March 8th.
Invitation:
Y leadership has generously offered to host parents and swimmers who are concerned about the air quality in the pool area. Any/all Stingray swimmers or parents interested are welcome to come hear and be heard. Please mark your calendars: The meeting will be on Tuesday, February 2nd 5:30pm in the KVY Boardroom.
KUDOS to the KIDDOS!
We just received a GREAT!, unsolicited report from Pat’s Pizza staff and leadership letting us know that Stingray swimmers are polite, well-behaved and always welcome! The parents on the other hand were described as an “unruly lot” . . . Kidding
Pat’s appreciated the entire Stingray community! Way to represent Stingrays! . . . A good reminder that many eyes are watching and that our behavior truly does have consequences.
See you soon,
Kristy & Gary
