    Note from Coach Mike

    Hi Everyone,

In addition to the information sent by Kristy and Gary, I have a couple of pieces of additional information that may be helpful.

Casco Bay has made the meet against us a mandatory meet, which means they are planning on bringing a 110 swimmers to the meet.  Our first two meets were against 40-50  and 20-30 size teams so this will be a much bigger crowd.  It may be a good opportunity to break a concession stand record, so you might want to stock a little heavier for this meet.

When our team wins it's the result of the effort of swimmers, parents and coaches.  It takes a community effort from these groups to succeed, and this Saturday will be our first real test this season.  In order to win a contested meet every member of the team becomes a potential point scorer, so we need all hands on deck the next two meets since we are booking as slight underdogs coming in.  Please do your best to get your child to the meet.

In other news the few swimmers who attended the IMX meet this weekend were outstanding.  Talia Jorgenson, Anne and Cecelia Guadalupe were all top point scores for their respective ages.  Micah Trice became the first KVY 9-10 boy to swim the 500 free, and as such is now the team record holder.  Abbey Gifford, Emma Crosby, Bella Littler, Morgan Henderson and Ryan Emerson all swam 100 stroke races for the first time with great success.  Scottie Turney probably set a few team records, the Jorgenson twins dominated the 12 year old girl group, and Macy and Noah Aube swam best times under the most difficult of conditions.  Abriel Whitman dropped her sprint focus for a day to successfully compete in the 200 fly, 200 IM and 500 free.  To cap it all off, Tara Jorgenson had the swim of the meet to make her JO cut in the 200 breaststroke.

Judging from this past weekend we are coming out of the holidays ready to swim fast.  Let's keep it going this weekend!

    Mike
